About
PublicSalaries publishes Ontario’s public sector salary disclosure (the “Sunshine List”), searchable and compared across years. It is independent: not a government site and not affiliated with or endorsed by any government, employer or union. It is non-commercial: no advertising, no paid services, no sponsors.
Disclosure laws exist so the public can see how public money is spent on pay. The official lists are published once a year as large files, one year at a time. We join the years together, follow each person and employer through them, and add the context a single year cannot give: medians by job and employer, where a salary sits among peers, and how pay changed.
What we add
- Every year of a list on one page per person, matched carefully (see the methodology).
- Employer, job, sector and year pages with medians, ranges and history.
- Peer context: rank at the employer, and the share of people in the same job paid less.
- The same job compared across employers.
- Every figure traced to the official file it came from (sources).
